How Psyned Works
A clear process gives you peace of mind
When you’re looking for psychological support, it helps to know what to expect, especially if the Dutch healthcare system feels unfamiliar.
At Psyned, we work with a clear and transparent process. You always know what the next step is and who you’re speaking with, so you can get started with confidence.
Step 1 – Book your free advice call
The first step is a free 15-minute advice call. You can book it online or call us directly.
During this call, you speak with a member of our referral team with a background in psychology. Together, you briefly discuss:
- Your symptoms
- How they affect your work or daily life
- What you hope to achieve
- Your preferences (language, location, or online sessions)
- Whether your employer may contribute to the costs
The call is free and without obligation. It’s simply there to help you understand your options.
Step 2 – Personal advice
After listening to your situation, we give you honest and practical advice.
Sometimes therapy at Psyned is the right fit. In other cases, another type of care may be more suitable, and we will tell you that openly.
If therapy is recommended, we explain which approach may suit you and what you can expect. You then decide whether you want to continue.
Step 3 – Match with a psychologist
If you choose to proceed, we match you with a psychologist from our network of over 300 professionals across the Netherlands.
We take into account your symptoms, preferences, and the psychologist’s expertise to find the best possible match.
Because our psychologists work independently from insurance contracts, most do not have waiting lists. In many cases, you can start within a week.
If the match does not feel right, you can use our click guarantee. We will match you with another psychologist, and the new intake session is covered by us.er psychologist. The intake with the new psychologist is covered by us.
Step 4 – Intake and treatment plan
Your first session is the intake.
During this session, you explore your background, current challenges, and goals in more detail. Together with your psychologist, you create a treatment plan that fits your situation.
This includes:
- what you want to work on
- which methods may be used (such as CBT, EMDR or ACT)
- how often sessions take place
- an indication of the expected duration
Treatment is always tailored to you and can be adjusted when needed.d.
Step 5 – Therapy and evaluation
After the intake, therapy begins.
Sessions usually take place weekly or every two weeks. Together with your psychologist, you actively work towards your goals.
Progress is regularly evaluated and adjusted where needed. When your goals are reached, therapy is concluded together. Some clients choose occasional follow-up sessions.
How long does therapy take?
The duration depends on your situation and goals.
Some people benefit from a short process focused on a specific issue. Others, especially when difficulties are more complex or long-standing, may need more time.
This is always discussed clearly during the intake, so you know what to expect.
Costs and payment
Psyned operates independently from Dutch health insurers. This means you do not need a GP referral and can usually start quickly.
Because of this, therapy is typically not covered by standard Dutch health insurance and is paid privately.
